Ed: DMing; Paul: Godzilla "T-Hex" Hercules (dragonborn warlock 10); Scott: Smudge (shadar-kai rogue 8 / barbarian 2) and Martin (duergar cleric 10); Matt G.: Garth Anon (human barbarian 10); Dane: Tudo (dwarf cleric 10).
Last time the adventurers chopped up a bunch of ogres in the sewers below Ape Man City. The party is searching for an anomalous underground source of magic (which may or may not be related to rumors of a Beholder up to no good).
Searching the bodies of the ogres reveals about 100 gp, a few pieces of armor, a potion of healing, and a potions of animal control, and a potion of growth. The party splits the 100 gp between the two new members, Godzilla Hercules and Garth Anon.
Tudo's masonry expertise lets him spot the faint outline of a pressure plate on the floor near the south side of the room. Bartus pushes the plate with his 10-foot pole, and Smudge hears a CLUNK sound coming from the tunnel to the west.
Smudge ventures a little furth down the passage to the west, which turns north. He hears a ticking noise. Smudge sees inscribed on the tunnels wall: "only the highest and lowest will survive".
Godzilla Hercules peeks out the north exit of the room and sees another large room. He hears scurrying. A heap of adventuring gear and junk is piled in the middle of the room. And four more piles are distributed around the room: one of sheep parts, one of rocks, and two more of adventuring gear.
Tudo searches one of the piles for a good filet knife, but find only junk. He doesn't find one, but to the south-east of the room he does find a large metal "G" inlaid in the floor.
The party moves through a passage to the east, into a room with a beachball-size golden sphere hanging from a golden rope. Smudge pushes the ball with mage hand. The whole room splinters and spins with an awful gonging din. Our heroes are thrown hither and tither, as if standing in a giant ringing bell.
Garth dives out of the shaking room, but the rest of the party can't leap clear. Martin steps into the air. Smudge tries to steady the clapper with mage hand and the gyrations of the room subside somewhat.
Tudo and Smudge fall prone and take 14 bludgeoning damage. T-Hex grabs Tudo and dimension doors them both out of the swinging bell room to where Garth's waiting, leaving Smudge, Martin, and Bartus in the bell room.
Martin manages to fly out of the bell room as the door briefly lines up with the doorway. Bartus tries to jump through the doorway when the doors line up, but he's chopped in half. Smudge jump over the rapidly dying Bartus and makes it out.
T-Hex goes to the previous room to search the hunk piles for anything that could be used to arrest the swinging of the bell room. Six mongrel-men spring out of the junk pile and attack!

The mongrel-men all miss T-Hex. T-Hex misses one and slices another with his odachi for 17 damage.
T-Hex kills the injured mongrel-man, then hits but fails to kill a second mongrel-man.
π¨π¦πΊπ¦ππ
Tudo arrives on the scene and crushes the skull of a mongrel-man with his pan flail. Another mongel-man fails his morale check and flees.
π¨π¦πΊπππ
Godzilla Hercules kills another mongrel-man and injures another.
π¨π¦ππππ
One of the two remaining mongrel-men turns to run, and T-Hex cuts him down.

Smudge runs down the mongrel-man that fled earlier and hits him for nine damage. T-Hex runs over and chops the injured mongrel-man in half for 26 damage.

Godzilla Hercules goes back to the bell room to see if it's possible to recover Bartus's body pieces.
