Fri Oct 13 17:46:48 EDT 2023 Ed DMing 5e. Me, Scott, Steven. Playing on Zoom. We resume from last session, near an underground river of lava. Zoozeki abandons his salamander form. He _flies_ across the lava river, and pulls the other characters across on _Tenser's Floating Disk_. We explore the lava tunnels. We find a trap door leading up. It's now canon that that elf ears are like cat whiskers: they show how small a gap the elf can fit through. (See Record of Lodoss War elf ears.) The trip door is 20 feet up. Zoozeki flies up to the trap door. The door is arm, but not hot. Zoozeki hears creatures moving around and giggling and sibilant speech. Kristabell and the apes can't fit through the narrow tunnel, so we go back. We head south. A big dark room. Footprints in the dust on the ground heading east [toward what is probably a secret door]. Kristabell makes an Investigation check and notices the outline of a hidden door. Smudge figures out how to open it. There are footprints leading up to the door, but none inside the room. Down a steep staircase, we find a room with one door, one hatch in the floor, and one hatch in the ceiling. The room smells like radiation. Zoozeki _detects magic_ on the hatch in the floor. It's magic, school of Abjuration. Something bangs on the huge hatch in the floor and pretends to be a paladin named Valhawk. [Good magic item for necromancer: body bag of holding.] Valhawk says his mission from god (Alenicos Poy-menicos)to to find all the dinosaurs and sort them by size and quality. Valhawk accidentally touches Smudge's rapier and gives a startled jolt. Valhawk pledges a two-week life dept to Martin for opening the hatch. Valhawk tells Smudge that his rapier is a holy avenger. We open the non-hatch door. A rough-hewn cave, sloping upward. We find a pool surrounded by a raised wall with a small whirlpool. The pool radiates Alternation (transmutation) magic. We retrief a box from the bottom of the pool with "Happy Yule from Abraxis Alchemists" written on it. Inside: two vials: "universal solvent" and "sovereign glue". Common alchemical compounds: really good glue and really good solvent. Each bottle is two ounces.
