Fri Jun 24 18:36:17 EDT 2022 Ed DMing. Me, Scott, Sebastian, and Steve. Last time, we were in our sky boat, heading north to meet Ootherion. We navigate to a mountain pass with a low enough altitude we can pass through. But the boat starts shaking and making bad noises at high altitude, so we back off. We come to a mountain clearing. In the clearing, two humans are building two eight-foot-fall wooden men. Zoozeki waives and shouts "ahoy". They invite us to land. We land. One is younger, the other older, both wearing robes. Oblock (the other) and Mefluon the Green. [To do: come up with a list of hilariously grandios appellations/titles for Zoozeki.] Everyone else introduces themselves. Oblock and Mefluon say they are golemologists. We ask the golemologists if they know a safe pass over the mountains. They don't know for sure about a pass. We help to golemologyist mend the wood cracks in their golems, and Zoozeki casts some novelty _magic mouths_ on the golems as directed by the golemologists. In exchange, they tell us what lies nearby. East: dwarves making a big cannon. North: a waterfall, and a garden of stolen monuments. West: another clearing with a dangerous, unhappy daemon. The daemon rants to itself about regrets and its old master. It looks like a rhinoceros. We go north to the statue garden. It's getting pretty dark. Zoozeki looks for monuments that seems arcanely non-euclidean. We find a big bronze abstract animal-ish statue with non-Euclidean angles. Zoozeki casts _walk among the angles_ and takes Xenon with him. We come out on a featureless plane with freezing howling wind and a bas relief. Relief depicts men on horseback in strange costumes. Zoozeki and Xenon both feel like they've grown as wizards. It's very cold, so we go back. From now on, in Zoozeki's dreams, his self-image is one inch shorter but his eyes are two inches higher on this head. In the few minutes we were away, the whole night had passed. We go visit the dwarves. Looking northeast, though, Smudge's own sees settlers in a wagon. But we keep going toward the waterfall (on our way to the dwarves). To the dwarves. Sounds of banging and cursing. Moulds. Shafts dug. Bits of shattered, smoking metal. The dwarves are rude and Scottish. Martin starts mending their shattered cannon. And the dwarves cast a new canon. Shoot off. The dwarves hit the target tree, and do a lot of damage, and their canon survives. Martin _enlarges_ his canon. Martin hits the tree, but his canon explodes. The dwarves might be willing to make a couple small canons for us, but we can't think of anything to trade. We leave the dwarves for the moment. We go north. A stream, probably the one that leads to the waterfall. A cave entrance is in the side of the hill. We tie up the boat (Zoozeki _alarms_ the boat) and go into the cave. The path descends, and follows a slow-running stream. Zoozeki investigates and finds what he believes is the lair of giant toads. We enter the toad lair. There are a couple pools of stagnant water. Zoozeki creates a _minor illusion_ of a giant fly. A toad pokes its head out of the water, and tries to grab the illusory fly with its tongue (about 8 ft tongue). Xenon telekinetically shoves the toad out of its watery hole. Fight! The toad transforms into a naked, toad-like human and flies at Zoozeki, provoking attacks of opportunity from Smudge and Kristabell. It dies, but gets an attack at Zoozeki in its death throes. Xenon's skeleton hits a second frog with a bow. It jumps toward the steam, and gets away, despite our attacks of opportunity. Zoozeki casts _web_ over the underwater tunnel down which the toad person escaped.
