D&D with Ed, Scott, Steven, Sebastian ======================================== Sat 28 Aug 2021 06:10:04 PM EDT We finish our long rest in the Hut, deep in the ice caves of the giants. Scott: "Smudge is a serious dude." We go back to the junction cave, then south to the room with three giant skeletons and ice toads. Zoozeki's stoat scouts. Stoat sees gold or brass tube (about a foot long, and an 1.5-in wide) in one skeleton's hand. Zoozeki casts _identify_ on the gold or brass tube; it's not magical. Kristabell grabs the tube; it's bone with brass fittings. Inside is what appears to be a map of this cave system.

Map. 2: storage 3&4: Great Hall of the Jarl (We are in 4.) (1 is the junction.) (4A, which is not caved-in on the map, leads to ten rooms. Although the passage is, in fact, caved in.) There are gold coins under the ice in the Great Hall. Kristabell melts a few out of the ice. RIBBIT. Smudge enters room. A giant ice toad attacks him as he's trying to hide. He takes 23 damage and is grappled. Kristabell fights another toad. Four toads flee, after Smudge kills one. We look in room 3. Animal carcasses (Mammoth), broken boxes spilling moldering provisions. Back to 1 (junction). Sebastian sends his snake past the west boulder to scout more. There are now four giants at 5, arguing about who will stay to stand guard during the party. The snake moves around and explores. Sebastian thinks there might not be more than eight giants, based on the number of beds. Kristabel moves the boulder to the west. Zoozeki and Sebiastian's character both lob fireballs into the room with the two giant guards. Zoozeki deals 32 damage; one giant saves. Xenon deals 36 damage; neither giant saves. Zoozeki casts _Tasha's Hideous Laughter_ on the healthier giant; it fails its saving throw. The other giant fails its saving throw. The non-incapacitated giant throws a rock at Zoozeki; Zoozki tries _Instinctive Charm_, but the giant makes its saving throw. Zoozeki would have taken 38 damage, but Kristabell reduces the damage by 4 points. Zoozeki has 4 hp left. Smudge attacks and deals 17 damage to standing giant. Kristabell attacks standing giant, and deals 41 damage. Xenon shoots an acid arrow, deals 14 damage, and kills the giant. Martin attacks the prone laughing giant with is warhammer. The prone giant makes its saving throw, and stops laughing. Kristabell attacks the giant, dealing 29 damage. Smudge deals 22 damage. New round. Martin hits with warhammer for 17 damage. Zoozeki _Hypnotic Gazes_ the giant, but the giant saves. Eagle laser eyes the giant for 8 damage. Smudge attacks with his rapier, dealing 24 damage, killing the giant. We hide the giant bodies in one of the dead ends off 1. Martin heals Zoozeki for 14 hp, bringing him to 18. We explore 9, and find piles of hides for sleeping, and eight boxes with money. Total 304 sp, 549 electrum, 382 gp. Smudge scouts room 6. Eastern furniture, wooden plank flooring. Finds an iron box containing another, smaller box made of precious metal — a puzzle box. Smudge scouts room 7. Tapestries, a giant bed heaped with soft pelts. A small chest full of gold — 2200 gp. Xenon and Kristabell scout room 8. A table full of delicious, fresh food. A female storm giant is changed to the north wall. Xenon talks to her. She's a princess who refuses to swear allegiance to the frost giants. How many giants has she seen here? 10–12 frost giant warriors, some ogre servants and young giants, a kimono-wearing easterner, and the Jarl. A cloud giant was there at some point, and a couple fire giants. They have polar bears, wolves, and dragons — a mated pair of two young white dragons. The dragons think they're guarding their own treasure horde, but the frost giants think they've tricked the dragons into guarding the giant's horde. She thinks the scabbard/broach might be in the Jarl's treasure chest. She ways to watch out for the singer. Her name is Tamera. She bites a golden plate, and gives it to us as a token we might redeem for a boon from her cloud storm clan. She leaves.
